‘Encourage one another and build each other up’
1 Thessalonians 5:11
AHMAT aim to ensure that our high-quality art curriculum inspires children to think imaginatively and develop creative understanding. We intend our art curriculum to provide various opportunities to develop children’s skills and creativity.
Class teachers plan purposeful and dynamic lessons which are monitored and carefully planned to support progression throughout the school. We strive to also offer regular trips and visiting experts to enhance the learning experience.
Children are given the opportunity to explore a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D work and digital art. They are introduced to a range of works and develop knowledge of the styles and vocabulary used by famous artists as they experiment and evaluate their creative pursuits. The skills they acquire are applied to their cross-curricular topics and embedded in Continuous provision, allowing children to use their art skills to reflect on and explore topics in greater depth.
The chosen topics and artists are purposeful and children are expected to be reflective and evaluate their work, thinking about how they can make changes and keep improving, through taking risks, experimenting and then reflecting on why some ideas and techniques are successful or not for a particular project.
Children have an appreciation of art and are able to think and work imaginatively and creatively using a variety of media and artistic skills.
