Welcome and Vision

Welcome from the Head of School

'Encourage one another and build each other up’

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of the staff, governors and directors, I would like to welcome your family to Bisham C of E Academy, which is part of the Ashley Hill Multi Academy Trust.

Bisham C of E Academy is situated close to the River Thames and benefits from spacious grounds and beautiful surroundings. We have strong links with our local church, Bisham Abbey Sports Centre and the local community.

As a small school, staff have the time to listen and support our families by working together to help children achieve their full potential. A strong home school partnership and parental agreement enables children to develop good learning behaviours and high attendance levels.

As a one form vertical entry school, we admit children from reception age to the end of year 6. Staff have high aspirations for the children and plan an ambitious curriculum that is scaffolded where necessary and dives deeper when needed, enabling the children to love, learn, achieve and succeed.  Immersion days, school residential and trips provide experiential opportunities to help make learning memorable for the children. Playtimes are given careful consideration too where purposeful outdoor play, through stations of activities, help children develop their imagination, creativity and problem solving.

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum. We want to inspire children to develop a lifelong love for reading.  At school, children secure their phonic knowledge through a systematic synthetic phonics scheme which provides a solid foundation for our early readers. Children enjoy visits from authors throughout the year who share their inspiration for writing and their experiences as a reader. We also ensure that every day, children are given the opportunity to read for pleasure, to read with the teacher during guided reading sessions and to listen to a story read by their teacher.

We have a wonderful Parent Teacher Association who give up their time to raise funds for the school through a wide variety of events and are always looking for volunteers and new ideas to fundraise for the school. Importantly, our members are friendly and approachable.

Our school is a special place to learn. I would encourage you to come and visit us and to see firsthand how inspirational our curriculum and setting is.

Yours sincerely

Our Vision

‘Encourage one another and build each other up’

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Our vision is deeply rooted in the biblical wisdom and Christian teaching of loving each other, encouraging and building each other up to achieve ones very best.

Staff and pupils come together as one family to celebrate each other’s uniqueness, accomplishments, talents and gifts regardless of cultural, social, religious, economic or ethnic background. Every child is encouraged by the leadership, staff, parents and their peers to discover and grow their God-given talents and gifts to their fullest potential. We are a school family that believe by encouraging, inspiring and building each other up, we secure the best outcomes for every member of our school community.
